Our History
Oldest Law Firm in BC
The history of Crease Harman LLP (“Crease Harman”) extends back to 1858 when Henry Crease became the first barrister qualified to practice as a Barrister of Her Majesty’s Court of Civil Justice for Vancouver Island.
The present partnership extends back to 1879, which makes Crease Harman the oldest law firm in British Columbia.
Since the firm’s establishment it has played an integral role in the evolution of both British Columbia and Canada’s laws.
Growing to Today
A series of amalgamations increased the depth and breadth of the firm’s expertise, including a 1940 amalgamation with Davey & Baker, a 1945 amalgamation with Lawson & Davis, and a 1992 amalgamation with Harman & Company.
In Victoria, Crease Harman occupies the 7th and 8th floors of the Bentall Building (now called the TD Bank Building).
